Biography
Malcolm was born in Williamsport and grew up in the Susquehanna Valley. He graduated from Selinsgrove Area High School and Susquehanna University. At Susquehanna, Malcolm received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Religion. Upon graduation, Malcolm began working for his alma mater in Susquehanna University’s Business Services office and later for the University Relations office where he served as the Assistant Director of the Susquehanna University Fund.
Malcolm was elected as Snyder County Commissioner in 2007. He currently serves as vice chair of the Snyder County Board of Commissioners. As commissioner, Malcolm represents Snyder County on various boards and committees. Malcolm has served as Snyder County’s representative on the SEDA-COG Board of Directors since January 2008 and currently serves as treasurer and chair of the finance committee.
Malcolm has a strong commitment to public service. He served on the Freeburg Borough Council for six years, from January 2002-December 2007. He was borough council president for two years. Malcolm represented Freeburg on the building committee, planning commission, and the Central Keystone Council of Government. Of all of the improvements in Freeburg during Malcolm’s time on council, he most enjoys the fact that the former Freeburg-Washington Elementary School has blossomed into a vibrant community center that hosts everything from a senior citizen’s center to community basketball games.
Since March of 2005, Malcolm has been active in the Snyder County Republican Committee. He current serves as the public relations co-chair for the Snyder County GOP. Malcolm had the privilege of attending the Republican National Conventions in 2004 and 2008.
Volunteerism has always been a priority in Malcolm's life. He has visited Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the Philippines on humanitarian aid trips. Malcolm is an Eagle Scout and has been part of various local service projects and community programs. He is past-president of the Snyder County 4-H Foundation, a merit badge councilor for the Boy Scouts of America, and co-chair of the United Way public service campaign.
Malcolm is also actively involved in his home church in Trevorton, Northumberland County, where his grandfather serves as pastor. Malcolm continues to serve as a supply pastor/guest speaker for several Snyder County congregations.
Malcolm and his wife, Erin, live in the Freeburg Borough. They are both Susquehanna University graduates. Erin has her master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from William Paterson University.
